POLISH ACADEMY OF SCIENCES

The Centre of Polymer and Carbon Materials of the Polish Academy of Sciences emerged as a result of the union between two institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Center of Polymer Chemistry in Zabrze and the Institute of Coal Chemistry in Gliwice, on January 1st 2007. Being the biggest scientific research institute of The Polish Academy of Sciences in Silesia it brings together specialists on polymer science and carbon chemistry. The Centre is a renowned scientific institute carrying out research financed by European Union Structural Funds,  Framework Programmes and international programmes like EUREKA E! or COST. The area of research is interdisciplinary and connected with novel polymer materials, polymer – carbon composites and catalysts to be used in biotechnology, microtechnology, protection of the environment and health care.
