Educational activity of the Centre of Polymer and Carbon Materials

The educational activity of the Centre consists of academic guidance and supervision of MSc and PhD theses within the framework of agreements with Silesian Universities and joint doctoral programmes. Our senior academic staff give lectures at universities both in Poland and abroad. The current doctoral programmes offered are:

  • Silesian Environmental PhD Programme: “Environment Engineering” run together with the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice and the Central Mining Institute in Katowice
  • European Environmental PhD Programme: “Novel Polymer Materials” (continuation of the first Polish European PhD Programme established in 2002, belonging to the International PhD Programme entitled  “(Bio)macromolecules-Structure and Function” - MSD-BIOMACRO).  The Programme is run in collaboration with the Dresden University of Technology, the Institute of Polymer Research in Dresden, the Charles University, the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry and the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague.
  • Environmental PhD Programme: synthesis, structure as well as physics, chemistry and application of macromolecular compounds (run in cooperation with the Department of Chemistry of the Jagiellonian University)

The Centre of Polymer Chemistry coordinates the work of the Regional PhD Scholarship Fund 2 (continuation of “RPSF 1”, working from 2005 to 2007), established on the initiative of BioMedTech Silesia Centres of Excellence, financed by the European Social Fund within the framework of the Human Resources Operational Programme. The fund provides financial support to PhD students from the Silesian Voivodeship, who conduct research in the fields of biomedicine, biotechnology, bioengineering and advanced materials.
